What we will and will not do with your footage
Camera companies are in the news for pooling customers' footage into databases that governments search at will. We think the way to never become that is to write the boundaries down early, publicly, while the company is small enough that they are cheap to keep and embarrassing to break. Here they are.

No cross-customer anything
Every customer's cameras and images live in their own sealed account. There is no shared database, no "search across all Perivio sites," and there never will be. Surveillance networks that pool customers' footage into one searchable system are how cameras end up watching people who never agreed to be watched. We will not build that, including for our own analytics.

No license plate reading, no face recognition
Perivio tells you that something moved on your property and shows you the photos. It does not identify people or vehicles, and we will not add license plate recognition or face recognition to the product. Future detection features (like "was this a person or a swaying branch") classify the scene; they do not identify the subject.

Your footage is yours
Images are encrypted in transit and at rest, kept only for your plan's retention window, and gone when you delete them — removed from storage, not flagged and kept. You can export everything you own at any time. If you leave Perivio, your data leaves with you.

We do not sell or share your data
No selling, no advertising use, no handing footage to third parties. The only systems that touch your images are the infrastructure providers we run the service on (such as AWS), acting on our instructions, to run the service you pay for. That is the entire list.

Law enforcement goes through you
If law enforcement wants footage of your property, the right person to ask is you — it is your footage. We disclose data only in response to valid legal process served on us, we review every request, and we notify you unless the law forbids it. There is no law-enforcement portal, no agency self-service access, and no bulk queries. Ever.

Anything built on Perivio inherits these rules
We want businesses to build on top of Perivio — integrations, reports, tools we have not thought of. Any future API gets keys scoped to your own organization and your own data, bound by everything above. The platform grows; the boundaries do not move.
If we ever propose changing any of these, the change will be announced to every customer in advance, in plain language, with time to leave — with your data — before it takes effect.
